- Three black ravens flying to the left at top of picture, the top of the background is reddish and tapers to white at bottom of picture. - Land turtle sitting atop clam-like shell. He is facing the hinged part of the mollusk and his rear left foot is caught at the toes, in the crack in the shell. He has an unhappy expression on face and there is a flat, circular platform on top of his head, may be a damaged chip. The mollusk hinge is very crude and appears to have been broken away, there are two circles on either side of hinge where the wood is missing. Turtle is dark hardwood, shell is black lacquered wood.
