- History / Biographical
- Howard Douglas, 1852-1929, was Superintendent of Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada from 1896 until 1910 and Commissioner of Dominion Parks, 1910-1911. Douglas was involved in acquiring buffalo from the Pablo-Allard herd for Canada. The round-up commenced in 1907 and was completed in 1912 with a total of 716 animals purchased. In 1910, Douglas was instrumental in organizing a hunt of old bulls on the reserve. The scheme was quashed by the Montana Attorney General

- Textual records pertain mainly to the Pablo-Allard buffalo acquisition, 1910-1911. This includes correspondence between Douglas and prospective participants in buffalo hunt of the Pablo-Allard herd on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana, U.S.A.; mainly circular letters, telegrams, etc. from applicants and confidential letters between Douglas and Alexander Ayotte, assistant immigration agent Canada, Montana re the ill-fated last buffalo hunt. Also includes photocopies of miscellaneous clippings and Douglas biography, 1963, by Marie Douglas.

The charm was a small metal piece housed in a paper pouch and accompanied by a leaflett that related the legend of the charm. The charms were made in batches of 10,000 and were popular collectors items. The first batch made in 1920 were made of alluminum, but the design was changed for the second and final issue. Includes a typed letter to Jim Sime from Fergus Lothian regarding the charm and material related to early Park fire prevention ; the leaflet that accompanied a "Buffalo Medicine" charm ; a typed text page meant to accompany the charm while on display.

- History / Biographical
- The Banff Zoo operated as a tourist attraction from about 1905 until 1937, when it was shut down due to concerns about animal cruelty. While it was open, the Banff Zoo held monkeys, cougars, a polar bear named "Buddy" [acquired in 1907], two bear cubs from 1915 onwards, and various other wildlife.

- File consists of one album containing 35 black and white postcards and 1 colour postcard. Contents pertain to wildlife in the Rocky Mountains, including moose, bears, big horn sheep, buffalo, cougars, deer and elk, at least some of which were held in the Banff Zoo. File also contains images of Lethbridge [ca. 1909], Col. Cyril Childe [ca. 1920], Mt. Rundle, Niagara Canyon and other untitled views of the Canadian Rockies. One image depicting Lethbridge is dated 1909, stamped and annotated.
