History / Biographical: Burton Wheatley was an engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway company, who died during a railway accident in 1894 which occurred at Field Hill, B.C. The Wheatley family were related to Ivy "Willie" Morant (1910-1986), wife of photographer Nicholas Morant.

Scope & Content: Item is a three-page typed document on yellow tissue paper released by the Canadian Pacific Railway's Solicitor Office in 1895. Pertains to the death of Burton Wheatley, CPR Engineer, in 1894 at Field Hill, B.C. and provides a statement waiving CPR's liability in Wheatley's death. spaces on last page of the document to write the date and witness signatures have not been filled in (likely a copy of a completed form).

History / Biographical: James Geddes (1836-1908) and Jessie Geddes (née Dick Wares, 1836-1920) were both born in Wick, Caithness, Scotland and were married in Edinburgh in 1865. James and Jessie were the parents of Malcolm Daniel Geddes, as well as his siblings Daniel, James William and Jessie Esther. Following the family's move to Canada in 1877, James Geddes worked as a farmer and lay preacher in Ontario.

Scope & Content: File consists of two diaries: one owned by James Geddes with entries dating between 1889 and 1893, and one owned by Jessie Geddes, ca.1911. History / Biographical: Harold Malloch Luxton [1884-1915] was the youngest child of parents Sarah Jane Luxton and William Fisher Luxton. Harold served as a member of the Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regiment, 31st Battalion) during World War I, and was killed in action on December 18, 1915 at the age of 31. Harold is buried at the Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery in Belgium.
