Burton Wheatley was an engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway company, who died during a railway accident in 1894 which occurred at Field Hill, B.C. The Wheatley family were related to Ivy "Willie" Morant (1910-1986), wife of photographer Nicholas Morant.
Scope & Content
Item is a three-page typed document on yellow tissue paper released by the Canadian Pacific Railway's Solicitor Office in 1895. Pertains to the death of Burton Wheatley, CPR Engineer, in 1894 at Field Hill, B.C. and provides a statement waiving CPR's liability in Wheatley's death. spaces on last page of the document to write the date and witness signatures have not been filled in (likely a copy of a completed form).

Personal education, [ca.1920]-1973: Records in this sub-series pertain to Eleanor Luxton's personal education and include records relating to her primary and secondary schooling; the University of Alberta, her teacher training at the University of Alberta summer school; the Provincial Normal School in Edmonton; post-secondary schooling at Sir George Williams College where she studied Commerce, Engineering, and received her Bachelors of Science (B.Sc.). Between 1933 and 1952, Eleanor Luxton participated in numerous other personal education activities, including: drama studies, 1933 (Banff School of Drama? and/or Banff School of Fine Arts?); Garbutt Business College, Calgary (office practices, 1937), St. Stephen's College, Edmonton (1940), Ottawa Technical High School (machine draughting, 1940-1941); German language studies (1951); Banff School of Fine Arts (radio writing and techniques, 1951, 1952); Western Canada Institute, Calgary (literature, before 1952).
*2. Teaching career: Records in this sub-series pertain to Eleanor Luxton's teaching career and include her teaching papers from secondary school and university.
*3. Engineering career, 1935-1946: Records in this sub-series pertain to Eleanor Luxton's work at the Canadian Pacific Railway in Montreal.
*4. Notations of office work and correspondence. Extensive documentation of weather, particularly during times at camp throughout August and September. Diary blank from November 17 to end. Memoranda section filled with numbers and names. Cash account section filled in for May to October and December. Diary blank up to May 25. M546 / 6 : includes daily notations of weather, office work, day to day activities, leisure. Diary blank up to February 21 regarding meter reading. Following two weeks list temperature highs and lows. Blank until April 21. Following entries regard camp throughout to September and throughout October travel around Mosquito Creek. Working on report and negatives throughout early December. On many entries he overwrites himself vertically. Memoranda, Notes and Bills Payable, Cash Account March to November.
