- See fonds level description for biographical history. Reverend Arthur Wellesley Richard Whiteman was born in 1865 in Teeswater, ON. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Queen’s University and received his Bachelor of Divinity from his studies at the Belfast and Edinburgh Universities. He also attended Robertson College for a year in Edmonton. Rev. Whiteman began his career as a missionary in British Columbia. He worked in Presbyterian churches in Cardston, Cochrane, Calgary and Macleod. At Knox Church in Calgary he was financial secretary and assistant minister for nine years. He was active in the church union question, and organized congregation members at Knox Church and St. Andrew’s, Macleod who voted against union. He married Nina L. Whiteman (nee Grenny) in 1898, and their daughter Dorothy Whiteman was born in 1901. Rev. Whiteman died in 1926 in Macleod, AB.

Content mostly pertains to the deaths of James Frederick Morden, Robert John Kerr and Ovide Smith of Pincher Creek, Alberta while fighting in Honing Spruit, South Africa in 1900 during the Boer War. Contents include condolence letters sent to James Morden's wife, as well as various related newspaper articles and a booklet commemorating the erection of a plaque at Pincher Creek Memorial Hospital in 1902 in their honour. - Jon Whelan (1952-2022) was a researcher, historian, and collector based in Banff, Alberta. Jon had a special interest in topics related to Banff National Park and Canadian Pacific Railway Company. Jon conducted independent research, as well as research for various authors and historians, from the 1980s onwards. Jon was also an active participant in municipal politics in Banff. "For most of Jon’s life, he was engaged in community affairs and fearless in voicing an opinion. He was successful in raising public awareness and his tenacity achieved a personal goal, which was to initiate the use of video for regular Town of Banff council meetings. - The Alpine Club of Canada, the national mountaineering club, was founded in 1906 by A. O. Wheeler and other like-minded climbers. The club espoused scientific study and exploration, cultivation of art, public education, acquisition of climbing skills, and preservation of natural areas within the mountainous regions of Canada. Through a national executive, local sections and volunteer committees, the club provided climbing camps, clubhouse, huts, and publications, including the Canadian Alpine Journal. ACC expeditions and projects resulted in pioneer exploration, first ascents, and included mountain warfare training during the Second World War. In recent years, the club's membership has increased dramatically with the popularity of climbing and its programs have evolved to serve the needs of unguided climbers using sophisticated technical aids.

- Adelia Woodworth Nickerson (1902 - 1977) was the ninth child of Elizabeth and Benjamin F. Woodworth, and was born and raised in Banff. Adelia married Nick Nickerson and later moved to Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

- File consists of one scrapbook produced by Adelia Woodworth and dated 1915. Scrapbook was previously used as a minutes book for community meetings held in Banff. First 10 pages contain news clippings and various typed poems and songs, as well as paper images of King Edward VII, flags of the world and a loose page from the Artistic Publishing Co., Ltd in London. The following 76 pages contain minutes and general notes from meetings in Banff from 1892-1895, naming R.G. Brett, Benjamin Woodworth Sr. and others. Two pages near end of book have additional notes on Australian Cadets.
