View of a lake encircled by rocky slopes. In the near foreground, at the picture's base, are the edges of grey-green rocks (with outlines of violet-grey). Beyond the rocks, two small slopes of red-brown extend from the lower right border of the sketch. The red-brown slope which is closer to the picture's centre, protrudes into the green-blue lake. On the left, beyond the foreground rocks, is a mass of violet-grey rock with a few small brushstrokes of green to indicate vegetation. Four areas of grey rock are found above the lake (in the upper half of the composition). The largest rock area is located on the right hand side and has crevices coloured violet. The upper areas of rock are separated by patches of loose tan rock and patches of light blue-grey snow. Near the lake's edge on the left is a small area of sunlit rock and water (the rock has touches of orange and yellow-green, and the water has a few strokes of light green).
