Scope & Content
File consists of Banff Indian Days photographs and negatives depicting identified and unidentifed Indigenous individuals and families primarily in Banff. Photographs depict studio and environmental portraits, parades, events at the Banff Springs Hotel, 1944 Stampede, and ceremonies. There is a triptych of Ludwig "Big Chief" Banjo purchased by Clifford White from the Western Music Supply Co. Subjects include Enos Hunter, Nat Hunter, George Kaquitts, Tom Kaquitts Jacob Twoyoungmen, Hector Crawler, Ernest Kehr and others. Photographs are taken by J.G. Noble, F. Gully, Ernest A. Kehr, C.P.R. Photo, and potentionally Byron Harmon.
Notes
Some of the photographs have typed or handwritten annotations, photographer copyright stamps, and copyright embossing and debossing of early 20th century prints. PA-83,84,85 and 90 and may show government officials from Tasmania including John Francis Gaha. PA-88 includes a copy negative. NA-01 has a copy print. Small round twined basket with rounded base and high sides closing in slightly at the mouth, natural buff colour background with brown design and black accents, design repeated three times around sides is of four brown parallelograms stacked on one another in stairlike fashion moving up to the right, with serrated edges of black-tipped triangles along the sides and narrow black lines between each parallelogram. Between each steplike series on the buff background is an oblique double zig-zag line running from bottom to top of the basket. Lip is finished with three rows of twining of a lighter brown colour, pattern not visible on inside. Paper tag rimmed with metal is attached with cord and wax through lip of basket; no writing is visible.

A pair of beadwork strips with the beads stitched directly on the hide in horizontal rows. The design of each strip is a white background with a dark blue X at the centre and diamond shapes at each end of medium blue, red and silver-coloured (possibly nickle) beads. Each strip has yellow looped beaded edging along the long sides. Both strips have a narrow leather thong through the beadwork at one end that is knotted and left with both ends hanging.

Short carrying strap of buckskin notched along one edge and lined with pink orange satin, inside completely lined with satin. Description
Small, rounded, flat buckskin bag with short lighter fringe around sides and bottom. Lightly beaded on front with single flower at centre with many petals outlined in blue black, and petals filled in with blue black and white seed beads. Four white stems and outlined black leaves curve from the blossom towards the corners of the purse. An alternately beaded white and black stem rises from the top of the blossom with a white and black trifoliate mass at the top, and two alternately beaded white and black bird's legs support the blossom at the bottom. The mouth of the purse is trimmed with white and black beads, as well as a small pointed tab with a buttonhole slit which is sewn to the middle of the back opening. The back of the purse is two pieces of buckskin patched together.

Large beaded geometric motif at centre of front with green diamond and triangles at centre accented with pink and red, the whole figure outlined with a white band following the shape. The back has a green and white outlined open cross with a white triangle and diamond hanging from its base having red accents and green centres. Front and back edges of the sides and bottom are bound with a thick band of white and red bars beaded over the seams. Description
A rectangular pouch of white buckskin with the bottom half made from hairy deer hide from the fetlocks of a deer with the bony outgrowth still attached. Bottom half of back of tan buckskin. White buckskin fringe across bottom of purse, and along bottom of white buckskin upper portion of bag. Lightly beaded along bottom of buckskin with blue and yellow triangles sitting on a thick band of red and yellow alternating bars, with an interrupted line of blue beads below and above. Bands continue around back of purse but triangles do not. Top edge of purse cut into large scallops and trimmed with red and blue bead edging. Double drawstring of buckskin through slits cut at neck of purse. Lined with white satin fabric.

Description
A long, flat, rectangular buckskin purse completely beaded on the front, short buckskin flap, fringes across the bottom, and rolled buckskin loop handle wrapped with beads and a patch of brown fur at the middle. Front completely beaded with blue background and large simple motif of a red diamond with red chevron above and below, all connected with white outline bands. Sides and top trimmed with an edging of notched buckskin. Flap formed from an extension of the back folded over at the top and notched at the edge. Flap fastens through two small slits on each side with a doubled thong sewn to the front of the purse. Handle wrapped with red beads at the bottom and white at the centre covered with the patch of fur and sewn to the sides of the purse through small pieces of fringed buckskin at the ends. Front of purse lined with purple fabric printed with musical instruments.

Motifs at each side of three adjoined triangles of blue outlined with red, then green, and small arrows shooting toward them of yellow, green, red and blue. Flap edged with tightly looped green beading, and ties through double slits at each side with doubled thongs attached to front of purse. Completely lined with white satiny fabric.
