Description
An ornate, engraved, gold pocket watch with separate winding stem. (a) watch, completely engraved around edge, stem bracket, and fob ring, with scrolled vines. Back textured with spiral crosshatching and plain shield shaped plaque at centre surrounded by engraved flowers and vines, gold framed front crystal opens. Porcelain dial beneath with delicate Roman numerals, a recessed circular second dial at bottom, and hair like wire hands. Back of case also hinged to open, ornately engraved plate beneath, two places for winding and setting hands. Marks: inside back cover, "18, hallmark, 21547", engraved plate, "F. Cooper, London, detached lever, thirteen jewels" . (b) winding stem, long, stemmed key with square hole in end to fit winding knobs, and oval shaped handle at top. Small ball around stem at middle allows key to be turned without twisting fob ring attached. Watch runs but hands cannot be set.
