Front has red, blue and beige fabric trimming on edge. Edged with fake leather sewn on with zig-zag stitch. Opens into flat parallelogram 8.0 x 17.5 cm, and is lined completely with brown, beige and blue fabric printed with squares of flowers and birds. Each flap can be unsnapped to expose small triangular pocket each side. (b) football shaped, made of three, stiff, lens shaped pieces of white fabric printed with green lines and small dots. Pieces stitched together along edges with one left open to form mouth which opens when ends of purse are squeezed together. Lined with solid green fabric.

- A Japanese samurai sword with black cord handle and black scabbard. (a) sword, long curved steel blade connected at hilt with brass to wooden handle covered with white pebbly sharkskin which shows through diamond shapes left open under silk cord which wraps handle. Metal band at base of hilt and metal cap at its end have relief casting of leaves and blossoms, and a bronze casting of blossoms is caught under black cord wrapping handle, oval sword guard has cut out relief of branches and blossoms, with holes on either side large enough to allow dirk to pass through. (b) dirk, long thin blade set into brass handle with cast relief of heron standing in stream with incised bushes around. Japanese calligraphy on other side of handle. - Three French Canadian carved figures in wood, hand painted. (a) a bespectacled priest in brown cassock and robes, small black skull cap bent wire pince-nez glasses, belt and crucifix painted on, carrying an open Bible which has been glued to his hands. (b) a bent backed, bowlegged older man, wearing brown pants, black jacket over red vest and white shirt with black tie, a black toque on his head, black shoes, a sour expression on his face. (c) a rotund older woman wearing brown dress with full skirt, black hemmed, a calf-length apron of black with blue and red vertical stripes, a white blouse visible at the bodice, and a necklace of roses. She is white haired, hair tied in a bun, and has a smiling expression, arms crossed. All are cut in deft, sure, simple wood carver's strokes, are caricatured slightly, and are strongly painted.
