History / Biographical: Frederick Albert Woodworth (August 8, 1895 - April 16, 1916) was the fifth child of eleven, born to parents Elizabeth and Benjamin Woodworth in the town of Banff. Fred Woodworth worked as an electrician in the mines at Bankhead prior to joining the war effort in February 1915. Fred was shot by enemy fire on April 16, 1916 and is now buried in Ypres, Belgium. Fred has a second memorial located in the Woodworth family section of the Banff Town Cemetery.

Scope & Content: File consists of a published guidebook for ice hockey, three menus/programmes for events in Banff, three postcards, three pages of loose poetry, and news clippings/pages from newspapers. Content pertains to a community Christmas dinner event at the King Edward Hotel in Banff; loose poetry, handwritten; postcards sent to Benjamin Sr., Maud and Ethel Woodworth, between 1906 and ca. 1915; a copy of the newsletter "Trench Echo" from the 27th Battalion in Winnipeg from 1915; a dinner banquet menu/programme for the 56th Overseas Battalion dated 1916; a news clipping announcing the marriage of Ted and Minnie Davidson, ca. 1915; two pages of a June 7, 1888 publication of the "National Park Life" newspaper; an invitation to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Ladies Auxiliay Annual Ball 1914; and a news clipping of a memorial article for Frederick Woodworth who was killed in action during World War I.

Notes: One page of a two-page handwritten poem is signed "E M W" [likely "Ella Maud Woodworth"].

History / Biographical: Adelia Woodworth Nickerson (1902 - 1977) was the ninth child of Elizabeth and Benjamin F. Woodworth, and was born and raised in Banff. Adelia married Nick Nickerson and later moved to Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

Scope & Content: File consists of one scrapbook produced by Adelia Woodworth and dated 1915. Scrapbook was previously used as a minutes book for community meetings held in Banff. First 10 pages contain news clippings and various typed poems and songs, as well as paper images of King Edward VII, flags of the world and a loose page from the Artistic Publishing Co., Ltd in London. The following 76 pages contain minutes and general notes from meetings in Banff from 1892-1895, naming R.G. Brett, Benjamin Woodworth Sr. and others. History / Biographical: Charles William "Bill" Stenton (September 24, 1914 - October 23, 1987) was born and raised in Banff. Bill later married Maria Anne Fernuik (September 10, 1915 - July 21, 2002), who in 1952 began collecting curios in the couple's home. The following year, Bill and Maria opened their first business in Banff, called BJ Novelty; the couple later opened another Banff business, BJ's Fabrics. Bill and Maria are both buried in the Banff Town Cemetery.

Scope & Content: File consists of 24 photographs printed onto postcard paper. Contents pertain to various members of the Woodworth family, as well as friends and Banff community members. Includes individual portraits, group photographs of the Banff Hospital staff, Banff Waterworks staff and friends in Bankhead, a local soccer team and multiple unnamed children [one identified as Bill Stenton]. Some photographs are annotated on the back with dates/names.

History / Biographical: The Banff Zoo operated as a tourist attraction from about 1905 until 1937, when it was shut down due to concerns about animal cruelty. While it was open, the Banff Zoo held monkeys, cougars, a polar bear named "Buddy" [acquired in 1907], two bear cubs from 1915 onwards, and various other wildlife.

Scope & Content: File consists of one album containing 35 black and white postcards and 1 colour postcard. Contents pertain to wildlife in the Rocky Mountains, including moose, bears, big horn sheep, buffalo, cougars, deer and elk, at least some of which were held in the Banff Zoo. File also contains images of Lethbridge [ca. 1909], Col. Cyril Childe [ca. 1920], Mt. Rundle, Niagara Canyon and other untitled views of the Canadian Rockies. One image depicting Lethbridge is dated 1909, stamped and annotated.
