- Fonds consists of visual and texual material pertaining to the Canadian Pacific Railway and its holdings. Visual material conists of two series. Series I: lantern slides, Series II: prints. Textual material consists of two series. Series I: organizational records, Series II: the 1942 film "Canadian Pacific" screenplay and associated documents. Visual material includes black and white lantern slides and black and white prints depicting various scenes pertaining to travelling on the Canadian Pacific Railway and depict dining rooms, scnes involving trains and mountains, farming scenes and fields, people in train cars, various cities and towns, figures in natural landscapes, horses and horseback riding, mountains, waterfalls, skiing, ships, CP hotels, and other grand buildings [across Canada] such as Notre Dame Cathedral in Montreal. Textual material includes paper reports [some compiled by Canadian Pacific Hotels Architectural Engineer Ed Steel] detailing various construction and/or renovation projects for hotels, lodges, tea houses, bugalow camps, huts, and backcountry lodges throughout the Canadian Rockies as well as records pertaining to CP hotels in the Canadian Rockies, and the screenplay for "Canadian Pacific."

- Slides were stored in rectangular wood box with leather handle on top, and metal handle at one end. White label that says “Lyon & Turnbull 432 04 February 2009” on lid of the box. Old, peeling, and stained label on top under handle, illegible. Faded, peeling labels on front, some words legible: “from the Canadian Pacific…” 2 stained and water damaged labels detached from box appear to be English shipping labels.“10” stamped in black on both ends of box. Stamped in black on rear of box: “Canadian Pacific Rly Co. 62 to 65 Charing Cross, London, S.W. 1. “3” engraved on upper rim of box. Box is divided into 3 sections with removable wood separators, small pieces of felt line 2 sections of the box.

- History / Biographical
- Nicholas Everard Morant, 1910-1999, was a professional photographer based at Banff, Alberta, Canada. He was a Canadian commercial photographer of international repute and Canada's premier railway photographer of the 20th century.
- Morant was born at Kamloops, British Columbia, the son of Francis and Mollie Morant. After attending the University School at Victoria, Morant served as Special Photographer to the CPR from 1929 to 1935 and again from 1944 to 1981. From 1935 to 1939, he was a cameraman for the Winnipeg Free Press, and from 1940 to 1944 worked with the Wartime Information Branch of the federal government (later to be known as the National Film Board Stills Division).
- Morant had a prolific career as a freelance commercial, portrait, magazine, landscape and documentary photographer. His work appeared in numerous books and magazines, including Time, Life, Liberty, Saturday Evening Post, (Toronto) Star Weekly, Northern Sportsman, Reader's Digest, Country Guide, The Standard, National Home Monthly, Canadian Photography, Outdoor Canada, National Geographic, the Globe & Mail, Winnipeg Tribune, New York Daily News, and the two Canadian Pacific Railway magazines, The Spanner and Rail News.
- Two wartime images were featured on postage stamps, while three landscape views appeared on Canadian $10, $50 and $100 bills. His images were also used for corporate annual reports, postcards, brochures, calendars and advertisements. From the 1950s to 1980s Morant gave public slide shows of his work, two of the most popular being "A Talk Without Words" and "The World At Your Feet".
- Morant married Ivy May "Willie" Young in 1936 when he was a photographer with the Winnipeg Free Press. Beginning in 1929, and until the end of her life, Morant's travelling and working companion was his wife, "Willie," 1910-1986.

- The Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies is a trail riding organization based in Calgary, Alberta. The organization was established in 1923 with the support of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The first ride was held in 1924, and annual summer trail rides and pow-wows attracted fifteen hundred members by 1929. Many notable residents of the Bow Valley, including members of the Brewster and Moore families, Catherine Robb and Peter Whyte, and Carl Rungius have participated in trail rides. Support from the Canadian Pacific Railway ended in 1961. As of 2020, the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies remains an active organization. - The Dionne Quintuplets [Annette, Emilie, Yvonne, Cecile and Marie Dionne] were born on May 28, 1934 to Oliva and Elzire Dionne in Corbeil, Ontario. The five identical sisters were kept in The Dafoe Hospital for the Dionne Quintuplets from 1935, under the care of Dr. Allan Roy Defoe. As children, the quintuplets became a massively popular tourist attraction and were used as poster children for a variety of brands and products. A public tourist site, "Quintland", was constructed near their birthplace, and for years the quintuplets were observed by visitors through one-way glass windows. One of the quintuplets, Emilie, died from a seizure at the age of 20. As of May 2019, two of the sisters are still alive: Annette and Cecile.

- File consists of a white ribbon, and a club logo for the Girls' Sunshine Flower Club of Banff drawn in pencil on white linen fabric [n.d. and 1922]; three news clippings from 1935, and one from ca. 1941; two unsigned tags/labels for the club; a letter sent to The Girls' Sunshine Flower Club of Banff from The Dafoe Hospital for the Dionne Quintuplets in 1935; and two books of meeting minutes or the club. Clippings pertain to fundraising by the Girls' Sunshine Flower Club towards cancer research held during Silver Jubilee celebrations [for King George V] in Banff, and an annual Halloween tea event. Letter expresses thanks for a gift for the Dionne Quintuplets sent by the Flower Club, signed by Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe. One book of meeting minutes, dated 1940-1941, also contains meeting attendance logs at back for years 1940 - 1949. Second, larger meeting minutes book contains notes for years 1933 - 1940, as well as list of secretaries of the club for each respective year inside the cover.
