The pendant is engraved “to Brother Philip Friedman ... services rendered ... to ... lodge while Master AD 1846 et al”.b) A silver pin, 3.8 cm in diameter, with an outer round circular band that supports a compass crossed with a right angle across an opening at the centre of the pin. c) A gold coloured square lapel pin, measuring 0.7 cm long by 0.7 cm wide, in the shape of a compass crossed with a right angle. The pin has the lettter “G” centred in the compass and angle. d) A stud pin, measuring 1.5 cm long by 1.1 cm wide, with a gold coloured compass crossed with a right angle in high relief on a circular back. There are three interlocked circles of different coloured enamel beneath the compass and angle. - A needlepoint sampler, in many colours, done in cross-stitch on a loosely woven ecru linen. The sampler has a narrow double-stitched border with a floral band at the top followed by rows of letters of the alphabet separated by horizontal bars. Most of the letters are worked twice together through the alphabet repeating from A to D at the end, followed by another floral band as at the top, and then “Susanah Lehman November the 3 1796.” The sampler was originally framed in a simple brown wood frame with parallel line texture (wood grain?) and has a framer’s sticker on the back “The Royal Art Gallery” (Calgary, Alberta).

(b) a separate plateholder of the same size has hinged door on back of frame which opens to insert black metal film sheath (Eastman Kodak), and front of frame slides out by pulling on metal ring at top to expose film.
