Colourful scene looking out from the forest at a cottage, there are branches from the trees of greens and green/blues stretching over the top of the frame. A cottage nestled back in a clearing with an archway and many windows, orange shaded roof and three chimneys.“The melodramatic colour scheme used here, with its dominant dark greens and purples and yellow, was characteristic of certain early works of Collings. Possibly there was some personal significance to the artist in this scene as the breeze-way of the house is echoed in the construction of Collings’ home in B.C.” -- “Charles John Collings, 1848-1931” Catalogue Raisonne by Linda Heath
