History / Biographical
Fred C. Bell, 1883-1971, was a physician, hospital administrator, mountaineer and officer of the Alpine Club of Canada. He lived at Winnipeg, Manitoba and Vancouver, British Columbia. Marcella E. Bell was also a mountaineer and Alpine Club member.
Scope & Content
Fonds consists of papers and photographs including: postcard from Fred Bell to Percy Bell, 1907, re the Alpine Club of Canada camp at Paradise Valley; letters to F. C. Bell; speech by F. C. Bell, 1956; copies of sympathy letters to Mrs. Bell, 1971; Marcella Bell notes and papers; articles and Banff-Mt. Assiniboine Walking Tour brochure written or annotated by A. O. Wheeler; publications re the Canadian National Parks Association, 1924-1925; some clippings. Photographic prints pertain to mountaineering and Alpine Club of Canada camps, including photographs of Nora Bell, sister of Fred Bell; views of Banff, 1903; and scenic views of Banff and Lake Louise areas, ca.1902-ca.1912. One album pertains to Fred C. Bell and Alpine Club of Canada, 38 prints; other album contains snapshots of ACC clubhouse at Banff, 1963, by Marcella Bell, 11 prints.
