- A colour landscape photograph. A mountain in the background fills just over half of the photograph. At the top right, a clear sky above the mountain peaks is visible, diminishing to the left, behind another mountain. The bottom half and foreground of the photograph is a placid lake, and a small piece of the shore, rocks and a few small trees visible extending out into the lake. In the bottom right hand corner of the photo, written in black ink, is the title, year and artist signature, “Lake O’Hara ‘78 B. Spohr”. Au verso there is a silver sticker at the bottom in the centre with black print, “MOUNT CORY FRAMES PO 1900 - 217 Bear St. BANFF, ALBERTA T0L 0C0 Phone (403) 762-5155”. Beside the sticker to the right is writing in pencil, “ * one corner 18 5/8 other 18 3/4 } not printed evenly”.

Above the mountain peaks a strip of clear sky is visible. The sun is rising out of frame on viewers right. There are four peaks layering in front of one another and the closest one looks like a hill with trees on it. The bottom half and foreground of the photograph is a placid lake with a faint reflection of the mountains in it. On the horizon line, where the base of the mountains and the lake meet is a thick line of fog running across the photograph. In the bottom right hand corner of the photo, written in black ink, is the title, year and artist signature, “B. Spohr O’Hara ‘78”. Au verso there is a silver sticker at the bottom in the centre with black print, “MOUNT CORY FRAMES PO 1900 - 217 Bear St. BANFF, ALBERTA T0L 0C0 Phone (403) 762-5155”.

- A colour photograph with hand-coloured paper negative border. The photograph is dominated by a large tree in the centre, its branches reaching out of frame. The tree is in a flat field and in the distant background is a hill covered in trees and on the right there is a smaller hill. At the bottom right is a figure facing the tree (back to the camera) wearing a baby blue jacket with the hood up and rubber boots. A thick pale pink border surrounds the photograph. All along the boarder are hand-drawn outlines of wolves, camels, squirrels, armadillos and mountain sheep. Each of the animals is coloured in with either golden yellow, magenta, pale teal, or pale pink. There is also a thicker, loosely drawn, reddish-pink outline around each animal. Au verso there are two labels at the bottom. In the bottom left-hand corner is a label with black print, “Millerton, New York, 1985 Ektacolour print with hand coloured paper negative border”. There is light coming in at her right and there is a blank wall behind her that looks a yellow-beige. Spohr is holding is a Yashica 635 twin lens relfex camera. There is a circular red sticker on the top of the camera. At the top left corner of the photo there is a brown spot that looks like chemistry on the neg and also two brown spots which seem to be chemistry on the print or stains. Au verso there is a silver sticker with black print at the bottom right, “ FOLIO 328 - 10 STREET N.W., CALGARY, AB T2N 1V8 (403) 283-6423 Distinctive Custom Framing”. At the bottom in the centre is a white card with grey print, “In Memoriam - In March of this year Barbara Spohr died after a long struggle with cancer. Despite what she would have called the dark cloud over her head, she demonstrated to those who knew her, or to those who took the time to study her photographs carefully, that beauty is ever-present in the mundane, and that even the simplest things hold the wonderful and delicate gift of life. Barbara was more a collector of images than a conventional photographer. What many would pass by, she observed and recorded. In so doing,she offered us photographic statements filled with whimsy, pathos, frailty, and the power of hope. All ofus who had the privilege of knowing her will miss her dearly.” On the right is a newspaper clipping taped to the back. The clipping talks about Spohr and celebrates her life.
