- In a large, sturdy black, paper covered, wooden box and lid with brass slits at bottom of base, a collection of eighteen pincushions. 3 round(a) blue silk (10.0 x 5.5) short, puffy cylinder with design of five small hearts stitched around top, and diagonal lines around side, quilted with yellow thread, stuck with straight pins.( b) plaid (10.0 x 3.5) red and green tartan with wide blue and narrower yellow and white cross stripes. Puffy, wedge like sections formed with tight black stitching, dark blue grosgrain bow at top. (c) red satiny brocade (10.0 x 3.8) dark red, with green thread laced across top like wheel spokes. Holding on around sides are eight tiny silk clad figures with white painted faces peering upward, and black braided top knots. Base of red and white striped cotton. Paper taped to bottom indicates: "Welfare Handicrafts made by Renie’s Mill Camp, Hong Kong, R.M.C. Group III. Price $3.50". 15 rectangular, pillow shaped with featherstitching trimming around edge. (d) ecru with cross stitching (11.1 x 9.5 x 4.0) representation of three yellow flowers in angular pink flowerpot stitched on loosely woven ecru linen canvas, pink line border, plain back. (e) large black, flowered silk (11.5 x 12.0) yellow stitching. (f) orange silk (10.0 x 9.8) white stitching. (g) dark blue (7.4 x 7.2) red stitching. (h) pink striped satin (7.5 x 6.5) pink stitching. (i) purple checked satin (6.0 x 5.8) white stitching. (j) bright blue brocade (6.2 x 5.5) white stitching.( k) bright plaid satin (6.0 x 5.0) red stitching. (l) diagonal plaid silk (5.9 x 5.0) yellow stitching. (m) checked plaid silk (6.3 x 5.0) blue stitching. (n) yellow paisley silk (7.2 x 4.5) yellow stitching. (o) white silk brocade (7.2 x 5.5) pink stitching. - Description
- A large, rectangular hamper like box (a) with lid (b) made from split natural coloured bark woven around flat strips of wood in a coiled basket manner. Lid fits over a small lip at the top. A small, flexible looped handle is at each side at the top. Edge of lid is laced with split bark, and base is inset with basket resting on slight foot. Imbricated design on front and back consists of a large square worked in black bark with perpendicular lines out from each side, this outlined with white, and then with red bark. The design is repeated in outline with interrupted stitches on lid, each end of the basket contains the outline with interrupted stitches on the lid. Each end of the basket contains the outline of a large diamond shape in black, white and red.
