(mfg: National) (c) finger pick (2.5 x 1.9 x 2.0) as (b) but without cut out circles (mfg: Artisto) (d) finger picks (3.0 x 1.7 x 1.9) two metal bands that wrap around finger tip, widening near the end, then narrowing to a point that extends off to one side of the finger. (e) finger picks (3.5 x 1.5 x 1.9) two flat ivory bands which curl once around finger tip and extend out to one side in a point. (f) pick (3.2 x 2.3 x .1) small, flat, egg shaped, marbleized, grey plastic, stiff. (mfg: Durro). (g) pick (3.0 x 2.2 x .1) as (f) but brown tortoise shell coloured plastic (mfg: Eureka). (h) pick (2.7 x 1.9 x .1) as (f) but transparent yellowed plastic ?, slightly curled. (i) capo (5.3 x 1.9 x .9) flat metal bar with small hooks at either end to hold tightly coiled spring across the under side, lined underneath bar with cork. (mfg: Elton). j) bridge ? (4.7 x .8 x 1.1) a long, half round, hollow metal bar with six incised rings spaced evenly along the length. (mfg: Kamiki). (k) slides (7.2 x 1.7 diam) two heavy, solid, brass rods (used to slide over strings when playing the guitar Hawaiian style) (1) peg (5.0 x .9 x 2.3) white, cast plastic peg with long shaft and flattened key with finger depression each side, ferrules around top of shaft. (m) bridge (4.7 x 1.4 x 1.9) low, unfinished wood bridge with small dark support perpendicularly across under middle, short legs thicken slightly at base, series of small notches across top, some deliberately cut into wood, some worn in odd places from strings (mfg: Grover).

- An ornate, inlaid, mandolin with flat back in black fibreboard case. (a) mandolin, a traditional pear shaped mandolin with flat back and four sets of paired metal strings attached to eight tuning pegs at the end of the neck which has metal frets and inlaid nacre position marks. Marquetry band around edge, of nacre alternated with dark wood, and narrow border just inside than on the belly of light wood with dark wood inlaid pattern. Shell plate around oval sound hole of dark wood inlaid with delicate flowers and leaves of pastel coloured woods. Small, thin, metal tailpiece is etched with scroll design. Belly gold brown varnished wood, remainder stained dark red brown. Marks: large round paper label inside, "See the name Barnes & Mullins is stamped on your instrument as guarantee Barnes & Mullins London. Handwritten, "282", and the initials, "AW" (Annie White). Note: two pieces of nacre missing from edge, belly split from side one quarter of way around on bottom left, belly cracked to right of centre from tailpiece to sounding hole, inlaid shell plate cracked and nicked on right side.( b) pick, small, fat, pear shaped brown tortoise shell, paper thin and stiff. (c) case, black fibreboard, essentially the shape of the mandolin, with semicircular lid at round, wide end. Lid has leather hinge on one side, and leather flap at other with metal latch which fastens into round plate on the side beneath. Lock opens by pulling down on button sticking out of keyhole. Case stitched together with heavy black cord, lined completely with red napped fabric, leather strap handle on side opposite lock. Note: one semicircular side of lid gone other side separated completely, leather faded and scuffed, edges scuffed and becoming unstitched in places, lining pulling away at edges.

- A short, tin, horn shaped noisemaker. Horn is a cone which flares out into a bell at the end, small, wire ring, 1.5 diam, soldered to horn so it hangs down underneath the horn and acts as a handle to either grip or slide one's finger through. Large, 5.3 x 1.1 cm, safety pin fastened through the ring. Cone is truncated with small round opening at mouthpiece end. Brass coloured, vibrating disk inside cone at mouth piece end is held in place between two ferrules, and has two small rectangular tongues cut through the metal which vibrate when the horn is buzzed with the lips.
