[Canada Goose] This is the name of the wild goose that flied far above our heads Fall and Spring, traveling north or south in great flocks shaped like an immense V. At the head is a leader who knows the way well. As it is harder work to lead than to follow, this bird is replaed by another pilot and permitted to rest, ready to come back fresh to relieve the goose there. It is not often they can be seen on the ground, as they are known better from the noisy honking that fills the sky as the flock passes. They are beautiful brids, gray bodies, with black necks and heads decorated with a white chin strap. They are said to grow quite tame, even become pets; but they are cautious, and you will not touch them without starting a fight. They are known to live as long as fifty years, mating early and remaining true to each other for life. Always a favourite, poems have been written about them, and to them. - Item pertains to a post card photo album containing photographic portraits of various unidentified people [possibly members of the Flewwelling family] - most are posed in studio settings - as well as scenic photographs from around Banff National Park, post cards [some in English, some in Swedish], and a CPR and Department of Natural Resources map of Alberta and Saskatchewan tucked into the back cover. The album has a soft black leather cover with "Post Card Album" embossed in gold in the bottom right corner on the front and green pages with slots cut out to slip items in - each page can hold three items.

- A pair of binoculars (a) in a case (b).a) A pair of black leather binoculars with a brass frame and plastic eyepieces. A hinge on the arm at the middle adjusts the lenses to eye width. The focus is adjusted by a large notched plastic wheel on the arm. Further adjustment can be made by twisting the right eyepiece, with a scale reading “_5 0 + 5”. A narrow leather strap is attached to brass eyes on the body of the binoculars On the left side is “Voigtlander & Sohn Braunschweig & London No. 3380”b) The binocular case is tan-coloured leather with a flip top lid that is secured with a strap that buckles through a leather covered buckle on the front. There are leather straps on the back, to secure the case to a belt, and a neckstrap attached to the sides of the case. The case is lined with red velvet and built up inside to fit the binoculars securely. The case bears the handwritten initials “-.H.W.” and a date (1911?).

- A straight walking stick with 46 lettered, riveted, metal bands (7/8 cm. wide) commemorating various hiking trips indicating date on flat side and location on the rounded front. The varnished hardwood body has a large ivory handle (seems to be part of a tusk) with a black rubber band underneath for gripping. The tip of the metal shaft is pointed, second metal piece is where wood and shaft are inserted into head for strength. Above this is a coiled thick wire wrapped around the stick, glued, then a thick ring of brass, and again another coil of wire glued into place. The first metal band from the handle has “1918 Alpine Club” stamped on it. The second and largest metal band 3.2 cm. has the words “A.O. Brigden” written in script and the word “WINNIPEG” printed underneath.
