There is a manufacturer’s white label sewn onto the black lace “ETIQUETTE SYNDICATE CANADA UNION LABEL” and then an “A” in a circle. To the left of that is the union logo”UNITED HATTERS CAP 7 MILLINERY WKRS UNION INT”. The pin is circular, silver with a large red rhinestone in the middle surrounded by seven smaller red stones.

Description
A well-worn, felt, beige-coloured (sun faded) western-styled hat with a leather thong threaded through two small holes in the sides and knotted at both ends. The crown is pushed down and molded into a lady’s style. There is a grosgrain ribbon sewn on around the crown as a hat band and the same material is sewn onto and around the brim. The inside of the hat is taupe/brown coloured because it has not been exposed to the sun. There is a brown, soft leather, sweatband sewn onto the inside of the crown rim and at the back, where it is pieced together, there is a fabric ribbon tied in a bow, to the left of that, a stamped “SMITHBILT” logo. Attached to the inside leather thong is a card stating in black felt pen printing “WILLIES WESTERN HAT”. Attached above one knotted end is a card re: Nick *see narrative.

Description
A rust-coloured felt wool hat with a rounded crown (bowler style) and slightly turned up brim. There is a narrow green hat band (1.5cm wide) and the same green material sewn around the brim (2.5cm wide), and also a separate gold-coloured cord with two wool tassels on the ends. Part of the hat band, viewer’s left, is shaped as a bow and sewn down; the gold-coloured cord is also shaped as a bow and sewn over the hat band. Above the bow, slightly to the left, are two air holes (1.5cm apart, surrounded by orange painted metal) for ventilation, however, the opposite two ventilation holes, viewer’s right, are missing the metal covering. Inside there is a dark brown leather sweatband and printed on it ”SUPERIOR QUALITY” under that in script “King Hat” and printed below “INDUSTRIA PERUANA”.
