Description
A view of a coastal village. In the lower right corner are two rusty barrels of brick-red and brown bands. Beyond the barrels to the right of centre is a large light blue-green house, with a brick-red roof and one brown window. A blue and white tent is set up in front of the house. A brown pole borders the right side of the house and tent. The pole extends from the top of the picture to just below the blue tent. A number of other buildings are found in the picture, though the upper left quarter contains only an area of grass and rock which merges into a strip of distant water. The brown-grey rock and water are distinguished mainly by different directions of brushstrokes. Beyond the water lies a broken horizon of grey land, and light blue sky.

Three clotheslines, with wash coloured red, pale orange, pale ochre, and blue, hang about the house. In the lower left corner are two buildings with quick indications of two small figures between them. One of the figures is stooping over to pick something off the ground. Many other buildings are scattered over the rough ground of grass, exposed rock and dirt paths. In the far background in the upper left is a indication of pale blue-grey water. The sky is light grey.

The two buildings on the right are set apart. A brown road extends from the lower right corner, and divides to run around both sides of the left pair of homes. White stones border small lawns. Bright blue water is seen behind the buildings, and beyond is an indications of green hills. The light-blue sky fills two-thirds of the sketch. The centre of the sky holds four grey clouds, while a mass of violet-grey clouds stretches above the distant hills.

View of a coastal village. Similar to WyC.01.237. Five buildings are set along a shoreline which extends diagonally upwards from the lower left corner to the right-hand side of the picture. A building in the right foreground appears to have two brown chimneys on its roof. Two black boxes are by the left corner of the building. A low grey rising of rock behind this building partially hides two houses whose grey roofs are edged with light blue. A brown dock extends from these two buildings into the steel-blue water. An ochre and green shoreline composes most of the horizon. Violet-grey clouds parallel the slope of the near shoreline.

View of a coastal village. The immediate foreground contains rocks. Three buildings are located on the grass-covered shore just beyond the rocks. On the left is part of a large red-brick house with a dark brown roof. To its right is a small ochre coloured building. On the right-hand side is a white and light grey tent outlined in dark blue. The near shore slopes slightly from the left to the right side, then swings upwards towards the upper left corner to form a small bay. A second bay lies behind the first. The bays contain bright blue water with ochre reflections. The middleground contains buildings upon the bay shore across from the tent. The houses are placed and coloured in a Cezanne manner. The buildings are notated with touches of grey, blue, brick-red, tan, black, white and turquoise. The background contains ochre hills, and a light blue sky with violet clouds.

Description
View of a grey-brown church encompassed by houses. The church is located in the foreground to the right of centre. The only side of the church which is in full view has no windows or doors. The church's bell tower has an orange cross upon it. There is an indication of a dirt road leading up to the left side of the church. The houses about the church are coloured blue-green, blue, ochre or white, with details in brown or black. The sky fills three-quarters of the picture. It is a medium blue tone behind the homes, but there is a mass of grey cloud with light yellow highlights directly behind the church bell. The upper sky contains plumes of cloud divided by fairly distinct lines of blue sky (composed of loose brushstrokes placed side by side). The lines of blue sky seem to radiate outwards, like wheel spokes, from a point to the left of the picture's centre. Signed, in the lower right, Catherine R. Whyte '68.
