- A collection of eight drawing pencils and seven containers of pencil leads:a) one unsharpened black wooden pencil with a square lead (7.5 x 0.8 cm) and labelled "No. 2 Perry 728 Arch St."b-c) two pencils (l0.8 x 0.6 cm) each with a very thick sharply pointed lead in a bamboo sheath d) one automatic pencil (11.9 x 0.7 cm) that is black and metal covered at each end; lead is placed in jaws at the point which open by pressing a metal button at the end; labelled “Eagle Automatic 286 (Pat. Jun 26/77)”; e) one automatic pencil (9.0 x 0.6 cm) with a black plastic sheath with piece at the end which turns to adjust the length of lead through a small hole in molded plastic point; marked “Pat Aug 10, 1853, A Days”; f) one automatic pencil (14.5 X 0.6) with a very plain bone handle with metal tip with hole at the end; tip unscrews to reveal jaws which hold pencil lead; g) one silverpoint pencil (?) (10.0 x 0.5 cm) with a sharp thick point of silver or lead attached to a long dark brown wood handle with a knob carved at the end; h) one silverpoint (?) pencil (6.7 x 0.5 cm) with a thick sharp silver or lead point attached to a short ivory handle with a smallknob carved at the end and eight lines incised around;i-o) seven wooden tubes with lids containing various sizes of pencil lead: one tube (5.5 x 0.9 cm) with a flat top; one tube (4.5 x 0.8 cm) with a flat top; one tube (4.0 x 0.9 cm) with a flat top; one tube (3.5 x 0.1 cm) with a round top; one tube (6.1 x 0.9 cm) with a round top and a paper label reading "Henry Cohen, Phila, Half Dozen Cumberland Leads #12” and handwriting on the side "Gold, Pocket"; one tube (3.5 x 0.9 cm) with a round top and a paper label "Henry Cohen, Phila, #4 Everpoint Leads"; one tube (3.6 x 0.9 cm) with a flat top and a paper label "Henry Cohen, Phila, #4 Everpoint Leads"; one brass tube (4.8 x 0.7 cm) with a screw-on lid containing pencil leads

- An ink and pencil drawing of three men in uniform. Two of the men are normally scaled, but the third, central figure is scaled so that his head only reaches the knee of the other two men. All are wearing dark trousers, and what appears to be a belted military coats with large buttons. Their pillbox caps sit on the sides of their heads. All stand with perfect posture, but the third miniature figure’s back is to the viewer. Below this drawing reads: CHAPTER 2. To the bottom-right of the rightmost figure are the initials P.W.. In the space further to the right of the drawing is the inscription: TWO BURLY SENIOR CLASSMEN TOWERING OVER A SHIVERING RECRUIT. The beginnings of a pencil-sketched head, in a similar scale to the two larger figures appears to the right of the finished, ink figures.The numbers 800000000 (with zeros descending vertically) appear in the top left corner.
