Most of the bristles appear to be bleached hog hair.

A walnut shell tied together with red ribbon, and large cardboard tag attached. Ribbon passes through two holes on one side of shell to form hinge, across inside of shell to other side where it ties closed through holes. A series of photographs cut to fit inside shell are folded in an accordion strip into shell with one end pasted to red ribbon passing through, photographs are all identified landmarks in Annapolis Royal, N.S. Large rectangular card tag attached to ribbon on hinged side of shell.Marks: handwritten on one side of tag, "Compliments of the Seasons A. Maybe ? " with a place noted for a one cent stamp. On the other side printed, "Annapolis Royal, N.S. ..in a.. nut shell Mfg. for Atlee's Drug and Stationery Store KK Dennison's quality".

Description
A rectangular ecru linen bag with green and blue embroidered trees and blue handle. Flat bag has on each side three stylized triangular trees made up of small green triangles and sitting in large blue pots which have been worked in cross stitch on coarse linen canvas. Border of small green triangles and blue lines along bottom and top of bag. Twisted blue cotton cord handles are attached through small ivory rings covered with stitching and making a small hole at each side of the bag. Double handles are tied in bows at each side and together at top. Small, hollow, pointed sterling silver cone, awl? is tied through a small hole at the top by a narrower blue cord to one of the handles. Lined with green Japanese silk.

A rectangular wooden box, lined with green satin and velvet, fitted inside a sturdy wickerwork basket. There is a hinged leather covered padded lid with a leather flap and a metal clasp which fastens into a plate on the front of the basket. The lid has elastic strap loops to organize contents, and a small elasticised open pocket of green satin at each of front corner of the box. The box contains sewing kit 104.45.0008 and 104.45.0009 which includes various sewing tools, needles, thread, small pieces of fabric, measuring tapes, buttons (some with ornate designs), paper patterns, sequins, a small plastic magnifying glass, a thimble, a length of ribbon embroidered with “P.M” in script, a pocket knife with mother of pearl handle (103.08.0209b) and two cowhide and leather luggage tags which read “Pearl B. Moore Banff Canada”.
