File pertains to 80 letters written by Catharine Robb Whyte to her mother, Edith Morse Robb from June 3 to December 31, 1944. Topics include day to day life, Catharine travelling to and from Calgary to meet Pete on weekends [sometimes staying in Calgary, sometimes coming back to Banff], news pertaining to the war [D-Day, the liberation of Rome, the death of Mussolini], Pete's work and movements as part of the RCAF, weather, Catharine's involvement with the Red Cross, painting, radio programs [including operas, news, and sports], visits from friends, cleaning and household chores, gardening and yardwork, wildlife, Banff events, events and people in Concord, the Calgary Stampede, going to the movies, train travel between Banff and Calgary, various holidays [both Canadian and American], the filming of a Lassie movie in Banff National Park in September, going to Ottawa when Pete is reassigned to Air Force Headquarters in October [Catharine goes with him], Catharine going to Concord for November and then returning to Ottawa, Pete and Catharine returning to Banff/Calgary to begin Pete's discharge, and Christmas/New Years Eve parties and activities. Also includes postcards.

Many typed letters have hand-written notes and post scripts added throughout. Some letters written on hotel, Canadian Pacific Railway, and RCAF letterhead. Some letters are marked with a small x in pencil, indicating where Jon Whyte made notes for use in his project "Catharine Robb Whyte, Peter Whyte: Commemorative Portfolio," originally published in 1981.

Description
Two sketches for Christmas cards on the top half of the page. The larger of the two is a group of animals in a nondescript room, each doing something a different at there own tables. The smaller of the two drawings is the same scene repeated, however there is an additional animal that appears to be looking out a window. verso: in the BLC there are two postage stamps, one 2 cent Jefferson stamp and a 4 cent Lincoln stamp. On top of them there is a black ink stamped on top. In the BRC is says “The Junior League of Boston, Inc. 117 NEWBERRY STREET, BOSTON 16, MASSACHUSETTS”. Near the middle is says “MRS.
