- Description
- A heavy black-coloured Tycos compass on a hinged square bracket with a single slit in one arm and a double slit in the other. The face of the compass sits deeply in a round brass case covered with glass and has a small brass knob to lock the needle. The compass is finely calibrated in degrees around the outside, with a smaller scale of inches per yard around half of the inside. At the centre of the compass is an eight-pointed star. A flat needle balances on a brass cup over a central pivot with the North end indicated by a small rod through the needle.
