History / Biographical
The Alberta Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star is a charitable foundation based in Alberta which was first formed in 1912. The organization supports various local, national and international causes through fundraising initiatives, and draws inspiration for this work through biblical teachings. Current initiatives as of 2019 include scholarship programs for the University of Lethbridge and the University of Calgary. Membership is restricted to masons by trade [males] and to female spouses or family members of masons.

William McCartney Davidson (1872-1942) was born in Ontario and worked as a journalist in Toronto before moving to Calgary and purchasing "The Albertan" newspaper in 1902. William published the newspaper for 24 years, before selling the company in 1926. William and his wife, Ethel Heydon (? - 1969), moved to Victoria, British Columbia in 1930. Between 1938 and his death in 1942, William wrote a daily editorial article for The Albertan titled "Today, Tomorrow and Yesterday".

History / Biographical
Malcolm Daniel Geddes, 1866-1927, was a journalist, publisher and mountaineer at Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Geddes was one of the founders of the "Farmers and Ranch Review" in 1904, and served as vice-president and editor until his death. He joined the Alpine Club of Canada in 1917, was active in ACC summer camps and served as Honorary Secretary from 1924 to 1926. Geddes was killed in a mountaineering accident on Mount Lefroy in 1927.
