- "Superman III," 1982, directed by Richard Lester and starring Christopher Reeve, Richard Pryor, Margot Kidder, Annette O'Toole, and Roberta Vaughn. Clark Kent travels to Smallville for his high school reunion and reconnects with childhood sweetheart Lana Lang; meanwhile Lois Lane goes on vacation in the Carribean. Computer programmer Gus Gorman is hired by tycoon Ross Webster to program a machine that will wipe out the entire coffee industry of Columbia, thus giving him the monopoly. This plot is foiled by Superman so Webster orders Gorman to replicate Kryptonite but, unable to identify a missing ingredient, he uses tar, which causes Superman to have a nervous breakdown and splits his identity. Overcoming this, Superman is eventually able to stop Webster's evil machine with Gorman's help and saves the day. Location filming mostly around High River and Calgary. Power plant scenes possibly from Milton Keynes, England. "Superman," 1978, directed by Richard Donner and starring Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, Marlon Brando, and Gene Hackman. An origin story for Superman: born on the dying planet Krypton, he is evacuated by his parents and lands on a prairie farm, where he grows up as Clark Kent. After the death of his father, he recieves a psychic call from his deceased biological father and travels to the Arctic to build the Fortress of Solitude, where he trains and eventually becomes the famous caped hero. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor learns of a joint US Army and US Navy missile testing site and steals two missiles with the intent to blow up the San Andreas Fault. Luthor initially succeeds in this plan thanks to the use of Kryptonite on Superman, but as a result Lois Lane is killed, causing Superman to turn back time by flying around the Earth, allowing him to save her and stop the missile. Location filming for mountain scenes done in the Kananaskis Valley and prairie scenes around High River. One of the first motion pictures to film scenes on the newly-constructed highway into the Kananaskis Valley (Kananaskis Country). When a local resident encountered a flatbed truck carrying a U.S. guided missile on the highway (a prop for the movie), he was convinced the U.S. had invaded Canada.

Also includes lists of birds seen, reservation details, people met and staff of various places, events from Banff (including the death of Fred Brewster and Catharine Whyte receiving an honourary degree), song lyrics, and [what is possibly] a joke. M67 / 5 - 2 : black leather diary, dated 1970 in white ink (possibly white out) on the front cover. Pertains to a 1970 trip to the Canadian Rockies and includes hikes with and without organizations like the Alpine Club of Canada and the Sky Line Trail Hikers as well as stays at the Banff Springs Hotel, the ACC Club House, Lake O'Hara, and the Bugaboo Lodge, BC. Also includes transcriptions from the Abbot Pass Hut Register from 1926-1939 (presumably only of people Lillian Gest knew personally), reservation details, lists of people met, and a list of events from 1970, including the sale of the ACC Club House for $70, 000 (does not mention to who). Insert pertains to diary entries for the final few days of September as the book ran out of pages. M67 / 5 - 5 : black leather diary, dated 1973-1974 To July 20 in ink on a piece of masking tape adhered to the front cover (1973 to 7-20 1974 in faint red paint directly on leather of cover). Pertains to the summers of 1973 and 1974 spent in and around the Canadian Rockies. Summer 1973 includes stays in the Banff, Lake Louise, Lake O'Hara, and Bow Lake areas as well as hiking trips with and without organizations like the Sky Line Trail Hikers and the Alpine Club of Canada. Summer 1974 includes stays at various hotels around Banff and in the Lake Louise and Lake O'Hara areas, a helicopter trip to and from Mt. Assiniboine and region, and organized hiking trips with the Sky Line Trail Hikers. Also includes lists of staffs and people met, birds spotted at Lake O'Hara, distances, and a list of events from 1973. M67 / 5 - 6 : black leather diary, titled Sat July 20 1974 to 1975 - Thurs July 14 in ink on fabric [possibly plastic] adhered to the front cover. Pertains to the remainder of the summer 1974 trip (July-September) continued from M67 / 5 - 5 and details from June and July, 1975. The summer 1975 trip included travel between Banff and Pennsylvania by train [heading west] and plane [headed east], stays around Banff, Lake O'Hara, and Lake Louise, and hiking trips with and without organizations like the Sky Line Trail Hikers and the Alpine Club of Canada. Includes: M67 / 6 - 1 : black leather diary, titled July 15 - 1975: 1976 - July 25-76 on fabric adhered to the cover with tape. Pertains to the remainder of the summer 1975 trip (carried over from M67 / 5 - 6) and the first few months of the summer 1976 trip to the Canadian Rockies. Includes stays around the Banff, Lake Louise, and Lake O'Hara areas as well as hiking trips with and without the Sky Line Trail Hikers and the Alpine Club of Canada. Also includes a list of Lake O'Hara staff for 1975, reservation details for 1976, song lyrics, and lists of people met. M67 / 6 - 2 : black leather diary, dated July 26-1976 - Sept 8-1976 on fabric tape adhered to the front cover. Pertains to the remainder of the summer 1976 trip (carried over from M67 / 6 - 1) and contains details about club activity as part of the Alpine Club of Canada, various hikes, travel around the Canadian Rockies, and travel back to Pennsylvania. Also includes reservation details for 1977, names and phone numbers, people met, and information from a letter sent to Dr. Link from Edward Feuz in 1960 that included details about the Feuz family (including when they came to Canada and when they retired) and other matters relating to Lake O'Hara. M67 / 6 - 3 : black leather diary, titled June [illegible] - Sept 2-1977 on badly damaged fabric tape adhered to the front cover. Pertains to the summer 1977 trip to the Canadian Rockies with stays around the Banff, Lake Louise, and Lake O'Hara areas, hikes with and without the Sky Line Trail Hikers and the Alpine Club of Canada, and between Banff and Pennsylvania. Also includes birds seen at Lake O'Hara, lists of staffs and people met, and events from Banff in 1977 (including the construction of the Sundance Mall and Elizabeth Rummel's 80th birthday that March). M67 / 6 - 4 : black leather diary, titled June 21, 1978 to June 26, 1979 to Aug 5, 1979 on a piece of paper taped to the front cover. Pertains to the summer trips of 1978 and 1979 to the Canadian Rockies. Summer 1978 includes stays in the Banff, Lake Louise, Lake O'Hara, and Field BC areas as well as many hiking trips with and without organizations like the Alpine Club of Canada and the Sky Line Trail Hikers. Summer 1979 includes stays in the Banff and Lake O'Hara areas, hiking trips, and travel between Banff and Pennsylvania by air. Also includes lists of staff names, phone numbers, and people met, histories and timelines for the Lake Louise area and Simpson's Ranch, distances, and events (including the marriage of Carole Harmon to Stephen Hutchings, summer 1978). M67 / 6 - 5 : black leather diary, titled August 5-25 1979 - Sun July 6-1980 to Aug 2 1980 on a piece of paper taped to the front cover. Pertains to the last few weeks of the summer 1979 trip (carried over from M67 / 6 - 4) and the summer 1980 trip. The summer 1980 trip included time spent in and around the Banff, Lake Louise, and Lake O'Hara areas, as well as hiking trips and details pertaining to travelling between Banff and Pennsylvania. Also includes detailed lists of equipment for 1980 &1981, a small list of notes (including selling prices for a book called "Mt. Assiniboine" written by Lillian Gest), and lists of people met. M67 / 6 - 6 : black leather diary, dated 1981 on an adhesive paper label torn in half. Pertains to first two weeks of July 1924 summer trip and summer 1981. Summer 1924 consists of early details for a trip organized by Caroline Hinman and mainly of lists of names of those included. Summer 1981 consists of time spent predominantly in and around the Lake Louise and Lake O'Hara areas, with shorter stays in Banff at the beginning and end of the trip. Also includes details of a climbing trip two people took over Wenkchemna Pass on Aug 9, lists of people met, staff of businesses around Banff, and telephone numbers. Also includes loose items consisting of notes to self, a postcard, a photograph, guest lists and itineraries for the Sky Line Trail Hikers, and newspaper clippings.
