Also includes lists of birds seen, reservation details, people met and staff of various places, events from Banff (including the death of Fred Brewster and Catharine Whyte receiving an honourary degree), song lyrics, and [what is possibly] a joke. M67 / 5 - 2 : black leather diary, dated 1970 in white ink (possibly white out) on the front cover. Pertains to a 1970 trip to the Canadian Rockies and includes hikes with and without organizations like the Alpine Club of Canada and the Sky Line Trail Hikers as well as stays at the Banff Springs Hotel, the ACC Club House, Lake O'Hara, and the Bugaboo Lodge, BC. Also includes transcriptions from the Abbot Pass Hut Register from 1926-1939 (presumably only of people Lillian Gest knew personally), reservation details, lists of people met, and a list of events from 1970, including the sale of the ACC Club House for $70, 000 (does not mention to who). M67 / 5 - 3 : black leather diary, dated 1971 in ink on masking tape adhered to the front cover. Summer 1924 consists of early details for a trip organized by Caroline Hinman and mainly of lists of names of those included. Summer 1981 consists of time spent predominantly in and around the Lake Louise and Lake O'Hara areas, with shorter stays in Banff at the beginning and end of the trip. Also includes details of a climbing trip two people took over Wenkchemna Pass on Aug 9, lists of people met, staff of businesses around Banff, and telephone numbers. - William Fergus "Ferg" Lothian (1900-1993) worked for Parks Canada in Ottawa as Assistant Chief of the National Parks Service for 51 years before retiring in 1968. Following his retirement he accepted a contract from the Director of the National Parks Service to compile a difinitive history of national park development in Canada, which he completed in 1981.

- File consists of 1 photographic portrait of Fergus Lothian taken by a member of his staff in July 1978 in Ottawa. The photo is signed by Lothian and dated in the bottom right corner. Also includes a handwritten note by Jim Sime outlining details of the photograph; Lothian gave the photo to Sime at the National and Provincial Party Association gathering on 11 October 1978. Lothian was being presented the J.B. Harkin Medal in recoginition of his service and contribution to national park administration.
