On the left is a tall evergreen, in the centre are several short ones, and three tall evergreens are found near the right hand side. The trees have trunks of black and dark brown with branches of green and blue-green. A light turquoise lake is partially visible through the trees. Beyond the lake are two mountains. The foreground trees mirror the height of the background peaks: the summits fall behind the tallest trees, while the valley between the mountains is just above the central group of small evergreens. The mountains are coloured blue-grey, and grey mixed with brick-red. Areas of snow are white. The sky is light blue.

Description
The foreground, occupying the lower half of the picture, is a shoreline covered by multi-coloured grasses and a few evergreen trees. The grass is composed of short brushstrokes coloured yellow-green, medium green, violet-grey, ochre, brick-red and brown. The few trees are briefly described with black and green stokes. In the middleground is a lake shown by a strip of light turquoise (wider on the left-hand side than on the right). Beyond the lake can be seen the lower slopes of surrounding mountains. The far shore has a thin band of tan which indicates a sandy bank. A dark forest lies on the edge of the bank. Behind the forest are slopes of tan, green-grey and violet-grey; just to the left of centre, is an area of green-grey rock with thin strokes of blue-grey which describe a waterfall.
