After coming to Banff in 1929, he worked for Canadian Pacific Hotels and later owned his own electrical contracting service. Philpott was active in numerous community organizations. He retired to Calgary, Alberta, ca.1980.

- Ronald Leslie Duke, 1912-1978, was a professional photographer at Banff, Alberta, Canada. Born in Calgary, Alberta, Duke was educated at Calgary, Banff and the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. After wartime service with the National Film Board of Canada, Ron Duke returned to Banff, where he worked in the photography business for the next thirty years. Here he formed a link in a business lineage of photographers, including George Noble, and was for a time an employee of Noble's corporate successors. After 1958, Duke worked closely with the Banff School of Fine Arts, photographing productions and providing documentary services. After sustaining considerable damage in a fire which destroyed Banff's Mount Royal Hotel in 1967, Ron Duke's business resumed and, in partnership with George Baracos, continued until retirement in 1975.

- Thomas Henry Lonsdale, 1886-1975, was a clergyman and teacher at Banff, Alberta, Canada. Florence Sanderson (Bennett) Lonsdale, 1894-1972, was a nurse and community worker. Tom Lonsdale emigrated to Canada in 1908 from England. He studied education and received his BA and BD in Alberta. From 1925 to 1958 Lonsdale was minister at Banff's Rundle Memorial United Church. Lonsdale was active in local organizations such as the Rotary Club and Senior Friends and was particularly interested in local theatre, being one of the founders of the Banff Literary and Dramatic Society. During the Second World War, Lonsdale served as chaplain at the prisoner of war camp at Ozada, near Seebe, Alberta. After retiring in 1958, Lonsdale joined the Banff School of Fine Arts, first as a student and later as a sketching instructor.
- Florence Lonsdale nursed in England during the First World War, and also in Yugoslavia and Serbia until 1920. After marriage to Tom Lonsdale in 1922 and coming to Banff in 1925, she was a member and president of the Red Cross Society for forty-three years and was involved with the Banff Literary and Dramatic Society, Girl Guides, Canadian Club and the Women's Missionary Society.

- Patrick Edward John Fuller, 1928-2007, was born and raised in Banff, Alberta. Fuller attended high school in Banff and graduated from the University of Alberta in 1951, earning a number of academic awards and scholarships. In 1965 he married Catherine Collier. Fuller worked for the Lands and Development Services Branch of the Department of Mines and Resources doing highway reconnaissance and preliminary and construction surveys in the Rocky Mountains, 1945-1947. Fuller also worked as a geophysicist for Shell Canada.

- Muriel McFarlane Gratz, 1901-1992, was born in Alberton, Prince Edward Island to a Presbyterian minister, Reverend Humphrey, and Ella Jean Gratz. Muriel and her three brothers and sister moved west in 1907 with their parents to homestead at Sunnyslope, Alberta. Muriel boarded with relatives in Calgary while she attended Crescent Heights High School, then studied mathematics at the University of Alberta, graduating with distinction and a Governor General's gold medal.
- Muriel moved to Banff in 1925 and taught at the Banff High School for 41 years. She was principal at the High School for many years, retiring in 1966. Upon her retirement, a mathematics scholarship was established in her honour. Muriel Gratz enjoyed hiking, skiing, curling, golf and travelling and shared her love of the outdoors with her students, initiating student hikes to Lake O'Hara and Skoki for the Banff High School students. Muriel was an active member of the Soroptimist Club, the Curling Club, the Golf Club, the Alpine Club of Canada, the Alberta Teacher's Association and the Banff Seniors for many years. She was honored with the Soroptomist Woman of Distinction award in 1987 and received the Bow Valley Athletic Achievement Award in 1989.
- Muriel was good friends with Lizzie Rummel and spent many summers helping out at the mountain camps including Assiniboine. Muriel travelled extensively with her good friend Anne Derrick, a teacher at the Banff High School.

- Fonds consists primarily of Muriel Gratz's teacher daybooks and notebooks re math tests and student results, 1949-1964, 12 volumes. The daybooks include schedules, interview notes, incident and discipline reports, minutes of meetings, etc. Some notebooks contain loose notes, receipts, etc. Fonds also include a framed certificate of Soroptomist International life membership, a framed retirement commemoration and a framed portrait of Anne Derrick, a friend and colleague of Muriel Gratz as well as a founding member of the Soroptomist Club of Banff. Portraits of Muriel Gratz and Anne Derrick are by Roy Andersen, 1989. Also included in the fonds are a University of Alberta graduation photograph of Muriel Gratz, 1924, a Women of Distinction Award certificate, 1986, and a commemorative diploma, Banff School District, 1988. Her father, William Dean (1878-1974) was a locomotive engineer with the C.P.R., 1911-1922. Her mother, Sarah Elizabeth Folger Dean, was born in 1883 in Delhi, Ontario and died in 1963. Marjorie Dean married Hargreaves Greenhough on August 6, 1925 in Edmonton, Alberta.

- Iva (Stewart) Smith , 1894-1975, and Leonard James Smith, 1890-1969, were business operators at Banff, Alberta, Canada. Iva Stewart and her mother Zaidee Stewart, 1875-1962, came to Banff as visitors in 1913 and decided to stay. Iva operated the Canadian Pacific Railway station news stand from 1914 until ca.1924. She married Len Smith in 1922.
- After working at various other CPR facilities, including Lake Louise Chalet in the 1920s and Wapta Bungalow Camp, ca.1931, Iva Smith became manager of Becker's Bungalows on Tunnel Mountain in Banff, ca.1935 Len Smith worked at the Bow River boat house and was Captain of the "Lake Minnewanka" for over thirty years. He was also an ice-maker at Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge and Banff, Alberta for forty-five years. Zaidee M. Stewart worked at the boat operation tea house and wrote poetry, publishing "Banff Holiday" in 1950.

- Mollie E. Smith Ross, ca.1860-1897, and Peter Murray Ross, ca.1863-1928, lived at Banff and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Mary Emma Jane (Mollie) Smith was born in Jackson, Michigan, USA and came to Banff for health reasons, ca.1889. Among her friends in Banff were Anglican church minister Rev. F. Granville (Eric) Christmas, 1854-1931, and druggist Peter Ross. Mollie Smith and Peter Ross were married in 1892 by Rev. Charles W. Gordon and moved to Edmonton in 1893, where Ross continued in the pharmaceutical business and the couple raised a family. Rev. F. G. Christmas chronicled his admiration of Mollie Smith in a scrapbook that he later presented to her.

Records were filed in an envelope that was titled "Book Notes." Notable people include James Wardle, J.B. Harkin, Pat Brewster, Arthur Unwin, Dr. Brett, Norman Sanson, and Bill Peyto, among others. Notable places and topics include the organization of the Department of the Interior, the Banff-Windemere Highway, Rocky Mountain Park and Park Wardens, Kootenay National Park fires, coal and precious metal mines (e.g. Bankhead, Silver City), trail riding and hiking, research about James Wardle and his accomplishments, Ya-Ha-Tinda, and various parks (e.g. Glacier, Revelstoke, Elk Island, Kootenay, and Yoho). - Notes
- In 1983, Dorothy gifted photocopies of Carl's correspondence with her family. In 2003, the originals were donated as part of Dorothy's estate. The photocopies (accn. 5296) were discarded.
- Carl Rungius was a wildlife and landscape painter who frequented and had a studio in Banff. The Wardle family was good friends with Rungius.
