- Howard Douglas, 1852-1929, was Superintendent of Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada from 1896 until 1910 and Commissioner of Dominion Parks, 1910-1911. Douglas was involved in acquiring buffalo from the Pablo-Allard herd for Canada. The round-up commenced in 1907 and was completed in 1912 with a total of 716 animals purchased. In 1910, Douglas was instrumental in organizing a hunt of old bulls on the reserve. The scheme was quashed by the Montana Attorney General

- Duncan W. Johnson, 1879-1961, was a civil servant at Banff and Jasper, Alberta and Ottawa, Ontario. Between 1911 and 1917 Johnson, as Chief Accountant of Parks Branch, introduced a bookkeeping and accounting system into the Western National Parks and was assigned as acting Superintendent to Jasper National Park. During the years 1917-1920, Johnson conducted the first national parks publicity campaign which popularized the national parks with the prairie provinces and promoted the national parks as an auto tourist destination. In his efforts to expand tourist traffic to western Canada and the national parks, Johnson's plans included collaboration between Glacier National Park in the United States and Waterton Lakes National Park.

- Edward Feuz Jr., 1884-1981, was a Canadian Pacific Railway mountain guide at Lake Louise, Alberta and Glacier and Golden, British Columbia, Canada. Feuz was the son of one of the first Swiss Guides brought to Canada by the Canadian Pacific Railway. He climbed at Field and Glacier House in 1903 with his father and guided during summers from 1905 to 1912, settling that year in the Edelweiss Village at Golden, British Columbia. Until his retirement in the 1950s, he accompanied the finest climbers and was involved in over seventy first ascents of peaks over 3048 metres.

- Photographs pertain mainly to mountaineering trips and climbs, mainly led by Edward Feuz Jr. in the Rocky and Selkirk Mountains, and includes many first ascents. Many photographs were taken by clients who sent copies to Feuz. Photographs also pertain to clients, associates and friends, Lake Louise Chalet and Chateau Lake Louise, Lake Louise area, Feuz homes at Edelweiss and Golden, and scenic views in the Rocky and Selkirk Mountains. Negatives are largely unidentified. - Grace Charlton (née Wheatley) was born 1912 in Bankhead, Alberta to Alice and Frank Wheatley. The family moved to Banff in the early 1920s when the Bankhead mine closed. Following graduation from school in Banff, Grace attended Henderson Business School in Calgary completing secretarial courses. She returned to Banff to work for J.D. Hansen.
- Elmer Charlton was born in Spokane, Washington, U.S.A. in 1911. Elmer completed his schooling in Calgary when his family moved there from Spokane. Elmer worked for his brother Malcolm before moving to Banff in the 1930s to work for his brother in-law George Brewster, who owned Brewster Skyline Tours. Elmer worked for George Brewster driving the daily bus from Banff to Calgary. On his return trips from Calgary, Elmer delivered the Calgary Herald newspaper to homes and businesses along the way. Elmer met Grace while he was working for Brewster and they married in 1935. Grace and Elmer had two children, Ken (b.1939) and Gary (b.1942).
- Growing up in Banff, Grace was an active skier and she and Elmer became involved with the Ski Runners of the Canadian Rockies and helped build the first lodge and rope tow. Both Grace and Elmer held executive positions with the Ski Runners of the Canadian Rockies and Elmer was a judge at the ski-jump event for the North American Ski championships, 1948-1950. Grace and Elmer were also active golfers. Grace served on the ladies' executive of the Banff Springs Golf Club and won many club tournaments. Elmer was also an active member of the Banff Springs Golf Club, holding executive positions with the men's club at various times. Elmer was a member of the Banff Curling Club and both he and Grace were involved with the Banff Winter Carnival in the early years. Elmer worked on the construction of the Highway between the park gates and Banff and also found work on the sets of a number of movies filmed in Banff. Elmer worked on the soundstages, appeared as an extra and was a driver for the casts of the films "Lassie Come Home", "North West Stampede", "Saskatchewan", and "River of No Return." In 1949 Elmer and Grace built Charlton's Cedar Court, the first year round motel. It opened with four units and expanded to twenty units before their son Gary took over management of the motel in 1969. Grace and Elmer became members of the Banff Chamber of Commerce and Elmer served as president. Elmer was a life member of the Banff Kinsmen Club and Banff Rotary Club. Grace was a life member of the IODE and the Eastern Star Lodge. Grace died in 1998 and Elmer in 2000.

- Erling Strom, 1897-1986, was a skier and lodge-owner who lived at Mount Assiniboine, British Columbia, Canada; New York and Vermont, USA; and Norway. Norwegian-born Strom pioneered cross-country skiing in the United States and the Canadian Rockies. He operated Mount Assiniboine Camp from 1928 until the 1970s. Strom's mountain expertise was critical to the success of the Lindley-Liek expedition which conquered Mount McKinley, Alaska in 1932. His autobiography "Pioneers on skis" describes his career as a ski instructor and lodge operator.

- History / Biographical
- Frederick Archibald Brewster, 1883-1969, was an outfitter and guide at Jasper, Alberta, Canada. Brewster was born in Kildonan, Manitoba and in 1888 moved with his family to Banff, where he received his education. He subsequently attended St. John's College, Winnipeg, Manitoba and Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, obtaining a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering. Brewster worked briefly as a prospector and in 1910 embarked upon a long career as an outfitter and guide, first with Brewster and Moore. He established operations in Jasper in 1912 and was responsible for important parties, including those of Samuel Prescott Fay and the United States Biological Survey. Brewster served with distinction in the First World War and was involved with mountain warfare training of the Lovat Scouts in the Second World War. He supplemented his outfitting business with a series of camps which doubled as ski lodges: Fred Brewster's Rocky Mountain Camps, and boat concessions.

- Fonds consists of: I. Personal papers, 1897-1967, pertaining to family, education, military service, etc. II. Professional and business papers, 1908-1957, re Consolidated Mining and Smelting Co. of Canada, private mining ventures, Brewster and Moore outfitting, Brewster Transfer Co., and Brewster Trading Co., Samuel Prescott Fay, Lovat Scouts, Jasper, etc. Includes scrapbook titled "Mt. Sir Alexander," 1912-1967, attributed to Fred Brewster, consisting of clippings, articles and maps re the discovery, naming, ascents, etc. of Mount Sir Alexander, also text of speech delivered by Brewster at the opening of the Banff-Jasper Highway. Also includes Samuel Prescott Fay journal from 1914 hunting trip, photocopy. III. Newsclippings and magazines, 1930-1969. IV. Book, "Lord of the Lakes and Forest" by Augustus Moore. V. Photographs, ca.1887-ca.1967, pertaining to Fred Brewster outfitting operations, associates, clients, camps, lodges and facilities; Brewster family and friends; Fred Brewster college and university associates.

- Fred C. Bell, 1883-1971, was a physician, hospital administrator, mountaineer and officer of the Alpine Club of Canada. He lived at Winnipeg, Manitoba and Vancouver, British Columbia. Marcella E. Bell was also a mountaineer and Alpine Club member.

- History / Biographical
- The Galletly family were residents of Canmore and Banff, Alberta, Canada. David Drummond Galletly, 1838-1916, served as caretaker and guide for the Cave and Basin hot springs, 1897-ca.1910. Previously he worked on the construction of the Banff Springs Hotel and operated a hotel in Canmore. At the Cave and Basin, Galletly conducted tours and became known for his Scottish humor. Other family members included wife Ethel, daughters Viva and Ethel (Fulscher), son-in-law Fred Fulscher, and grandchildren Ronald and Adelina Fulcher.
