Content mostly pertains to the deaths of James Frederick Morden, Robert John Kerr and Ovide Smith of Pincher Creek, Alberta while fighting in Honing Spruit, South Africa in 1900 during the Boer War. - William McCartney Davidson (1872-1942) was born in Ontario and worked as a journalist in Toronto before moving to Calgary and purchasing "The Albertan" newspaper in 1902. William published the newspaper for 24 years, before selling the company in 1926. William and his wife, Ethel Heydon (? - 1969), moved to Victoria, British Columbia in 1930. Between 1938 and his death in 1942, William wrote a daily editorial article for The Albertan titled "Today, Tomorrow and Yesterday".
