Banff Winter Carnival, also known as Winter Sports of the Canadian Rockies, was the first post-war winter sports programme held in Banff, Alberta. The organization had Banff directors, Calgary directors and Directors-at-large from Alberta and outside the province. A wide variety of social and sports events took place under the organization's direction.

Topics include day to day life, Banff events, visits from friends, photography, painting, weather [including temperatures down to -50F (-45C) in January], the CPR test of their new diesel engines, events and people in Concord, world news, radio programs, the North American Ski Championship in February [for which Pete designed pins], the Banff Winter Carnival, installing fluorescent lights in the kitchen [prior to that they had "temporary" lights], purchasing a new Jeep stationwagon, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor visiting Banff in April, driving to Concord in May and back to Banff in June, plans for Banff Indian Days, a trip to Bow Lake, and Pete and Catharine's 20th wedding anniversary. "Vanishing Act," called "Hoax" during production, 1986, directed by David Greene and starring Elliott Gould, Mike Farrell, Margo Kidder, and Fred Gwynne.
A husband loses his wife during their honeymoon at a U.S. Rocky Mountain resort town. After going to local authorities to initiate a search, the mystery deepens when a strange woman shows up claiming to be his wife.
Location filming primarily around the Banff townsite, including the Banff Park Lodge, CIBC, various private residences on Buffalo Street, and Banff Avenue.
