- Howard Douglas, 1852-1929, was Superintendent of Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada from 1896 until 1910 and Commissioner of Dominion Parks, 1910-1911. Douglas was involved in acquiring buffalo from the Pablo-Allard herd for Canada. The round-up commenced in 1907 and was completed in 1912 with a total of 716 animals purchased. In 1910, Douglas was instrumental in organizing a hunt of old bulls on the reserve. The scheme was quashed by the Montana Attorney General

This includes correspondence between Douglas and prospective participants in buffalo hunt of the Pablo-Allard herd on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana, U.S.A.; mainly circular letters, telegrams, etc. from applicants and confidential letters between Douglas and Alexander Ayotte, assistant immigration agent Canada, Montana re the ill-fated last buffalo hunt. Also includes photocopies of miscellaneous clippings and Douglas biography, 1963, by Marie Douglas.

- History / Biographical
- The Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies is a trail riding organization based in Calgary, Alberta. The organization was established in 1923 with the support of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The first ride was held in 1924, and annual summer trail rides and pow-wows attracted fifteen hundred members by 1929. Many notable residents of the Bow Valley, including members of the Brewster and Moore families, Catherine Robb and Peter Whyte, and Carl Rungius have participated in trail rides. Support from the Canadian Pacific Railway ended in 1961. As of 2020, the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies remains an active organization. The charm was a small metal piece housed in a paper pouch and accompanied by a leaflett that related the legend of the charm. The charms were made in batches of 10,000 and were popular collectors items. The first batch made in 1920 were made of alluminum, but the design was changed for the second and final issue. Includes a typed letter to Jim Sime from Fergus Lothian regarding the charm and material related to early Park fire prevention ; the leaflet that accompanied a "Buffalo Medicine" charm ; a typed text page meant to accompany the charm while on display.
